Unity for Growth Initiative (U4GI), was established in November, 2019 and commenced fully Programme operation in 2021. U4GI has been working with young people and other key populations in Uganda in their efforts to achieve self-reliance; exercise their rights and responsibilities and improve the quality of their lives. The impact group of U4GI’s programming is Children, Youths and women. The major focus areas have been: Social Security (Child Rights Protection and safeguarding and SGBV Prevention); Education (Early Childhood Learning and Primary Education); Health (HIV/ AIDS and SRHR); and Economic Empowerment (VSLA and Financial Literacy). To achieve these U4GI has a four- fold strategy, namely, Capacity Building, Training and Development, Research and Networking and Advocacy. Currently, U4GI focuses it’s Programme in Kiryandongo District and we plan on Extending to Nakasongola District for Digitalization of VSLA and Skilling of Youth in Vocational Skills.
To promote community cohesion and development through inclusive and participatory projects that address the needs of vulnerable populations, empower youth and women, and enhance the quality of life in the Kiryandongo Refugee Settlement and the surrounding host community.
To be a leading community-based organization fostering sustainable development and improved livelihoods for both refugees and host communities in the Kiryandongo District.
I. Provide holistic support to vulnerable populations while advocating for their rights and ensuring inclusion in decision-making processes
II. Foster economic resilience through vocational training, agricultural initiatives, and entrepreneurship, focusing on food security and job creation.
III. Promote integration and social cohesion between refugees and host communities through community-driven projects and participation in planning and implementation processes.

Unity for Growth Initiative (U4GI) has been at the forefront of improving the living conditions of the most vulnerable individuals within the Kiryandongo Refugee Settlement. Through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Lutheran World Federation (LWF), U4GI has been entrusted with the construction of PSN (Persons with Special Needs) houses. This initiative, funded by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and supported by the Kiryandongo District Local Government and the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM), focuses on providing safe and dignified housing for elderly people and those unable to support themselves.
